Restoring Christmas

A Digital Event For Those Who Have Experienced Loss

Grief doesn't take a break for Christmas.

While the world around us celebrates, the absence of someone we love can feel even greater at the holidays. And navigating the traditions, gatherings, and expectations of the season can be difficult when we're grieving.

That's why we created Restoring Christmas—a free, digital experience designed to offer comfort and hope to those who have experienced loss.

Through uplifting music and a message from author, speaker, and pastor Steve Cuss, we'll discover how the Christmas story offers a powerful reminder of God's presence and hope in the midst of grief.

Gather your family or close friends to watch together online on Thursday, December 3, from 7:00–7:30 p.m.

We look forward to sharing Restoring Christmas with you.

Steve Cuss Headshot

Steve Cuss is a former hospice chaplain, a pastor, speaker, and author of Managing Leadership Anxiety: Yours and Theirs and The Expectation Gap. He’s also a columnist and the host of Christianity Today’s Being Human podcast. Steve founded Capable Life to help people lower anxiety, break stuck patterns, and increase well-being at work, at home, and in their faith.

When Steve served as a trauma and hospice chaplain at a young age, he learned how what was going on inside him could quickly affect his ability to be present to people in pain. He also learned how to notice the dynamics between people. Steve holds 1,600 hours of supervised ministry in Clinical Pastoral Education and is a Spiritual Care Professional through the ACPE. He holds a Master of Divinity from Emmanuel Christian Seminary. Steve is an ordained pastor who has faithfully served in local churches for 26 years. In addition to being an author and podcast host, he now serves as a speaker and consultant.

Steve was privileged to grow up in Perth, Western Australia, in an adventurous family. After moving to the United States for theological studies, he married Lisa, and they have two sons and a daughter in whom they take great delight. When Steve is not working, you can find him laughing with his family, knee-deep in a trout stream, or trying out a guitar he cannot afford at a local music store.
